In the name of ALLAH the most beneficent,  the most merciful, peace and blessings on our beloved Prophet Muhummad SAW.

Progress since the last update has been remarkable, the pictures tell the story. The scaffold has been removed so the new extension is now clearly visible from all elevations. Inside the rooms are now plastered, walls painted, wiring, heating and plumbing in situ.

There are several exciting features within the building, the favourites include an atrium style ceiling creating a sense of space and light, an annex on the second floor with a window which overlooks the Masjid dome and minarets, one can probably sit and stare through the window for a few hours, a plant room which heats water from the rooftop solar panels and a dedicated IT suite.

The entire building gives a sense of space and light as you walk through the corridors, every inch of space has been utilised to best effect. There is still more work to be done to finish off, it’s estimated that this will take 3-4 months.

We are extremely grateful to all members of the Leicestershire community that have supported this project both spiritually and financially. It will be a lasting legacy for future generations to come, and may ALLAH (SWT) make our community a strong and pious community now and into the future.

It’s still not too late to invest whatever you can towards the Madressa and ALLAH (SWT) will reward you abundantly. Everyone at Masjid Umar also requests your precious Duaa’s that the project is completed swiftly and that ALLAH grants us all his mercy and barakaat (ameen).

Construction Update 02 November 2011

Alhumdullilah, with the Mercy and Blessings of ALLAH (SWT) we are making great progress towards the construction of the Madressa Extension. The pictures below tell a much better story than words alone.

The Evington Drive side of the extension has had the scaffolding removed and the remainder of the scaffolding on the Evington Lane side is due to be taken down during the next 1-2 weeks, Inside the main hall area the walls are now plastered and the final fix for electrics, plumbing, etc is progressing well. On the first floor the classrooms are plastered, However, work still continues on the second floor classrooms. You can see a couple of pictures of the second floor where the under floor heating pipes are still exposed and the floor still has to be screed.

The lift to all floors has been installed as has all the IT networking cables, there is also a picture of the server/computer room with a pile of cables on the floor!

We continue to encourage the local community to continue donating so that we are in a position to complete the project during the first quarter of 2012. InshALLAH. More importantly we ask for everyone’s Duaa’s and supplication to ALLAH (SWT) for what has been achieved so far and to make the final phase of the project a smooth success.

May ALLAH (SWT) reward everyone that has contributed to this project and to make those children that use the facilities now and in the future (long after most of us have left this world) strong and confident torch bearers of Islam in Leicester, the United Kingdom and the Rest of the World (Ameen).

Pictures of progress covering the interior and exterior, taken on the 23.09.11.  Alhumdulillah, the work is progressing well with the majority of the rooms plastered, electrics and plumbing in progress.

Construction Update 22.08.2011

With the mercy and help of ALLAH (SWT) the construction of the Madressa project is progressing well. Work has now started inside the building and from the pictures you can see that Hallam’s are almost ready to start plastering, electrical work has also started together with the ongoing installation of windows, finishing the roof, etc.

There is still significant work to be completed within the building and your continued spiritual and financial support towards the timely completion of this major community project is very much appreciated by everyone. This magnificent addition to the Masjid will be of benefit to our local community in Leicester not just today but for generations to come. Please continue to donate generously, especially during the last 10 auspicious days of Ramadhan 2011.

 

Update 01.08.11

The construction is progressing well with the help and mercy of ALLAH (SWT).  Please see the pictures below taken on the 01.08.11, Most of the smaller windows are installed and work has began inside for the cabling, ducting, etc.  Further interior works should be completed in the next couple of weeks and we’ll keep you posted. Please continue with your Duaa’s and support for this project to be completed as swiftly as possible to benefit the Leicestershire community.

 

Update Friday 24th June 2011

Construction Update Friday 24.06.11

The construction is progressing well with the walls of the extension almost complete and the metal roof being put onto the building with the help of large crane (as can be seen in some of the pictures).  Insh’Allah we anticipate that the exterior shell and roof will be finally completed within a few weeks. The picture wall below helps to give you an idea of the progress so far including some pictures of the interior. With your continued Duaa’s and support we hope to bring you more news and pictures next month.

Ladies Fundraising Event, Sunday 22 May 2011, Platinum Suite, Leicester.

Alhumdulillah, the Ladies Madressa Fund Raising event was a huge success, we offer our duaa’s and appreciation to ALLAH (SWT) for making the event such a success.

The afternoon started with an inspirational talk from Shaykh Muhummad Sindhi of Masjid Umar followed by a 3-course lunch and the opportunity to browse and buy from a variety of stalls. All the merchandise sold through the stalls was donated free of charge from local businesses and individual donors.  100% of all sales proceeds will be put towards the fund!

Over 1200 sisters visited the event during a very warm and sunny Sunday afteroon. Mash’ALLAH  from ticket sales, donations on the day, pledges and sales proceeds the sisters raised a staggering amount of funds for our project. Alhumdulillah this is an AMAZING sum of money from our sisters in Leicester and from afar.

The centrepiece on the day was a cake modelled in the shape of the Masjid and proposed extension, a sight to behold.  A very generous donation of £15,000 was received for the sale of the cake.

Everyone from Masjid Umar would like to take this opportunity to say ‘JazakALLAH Khayrhan’ to all sisters that attended the event, our generous donors and our committed volunteers for all their hard work in making the fund raising day a huge success.

We still have some way to go before we complete our project so we humbly request your continued Duaa’s and support throughout the remainder of the project.

Friday 06.05.11 – Construction Update

06.05.11

The construction work on site is progressing well and the brickwork on the ground floor has started to take shape. The pictures show the progress to date much better with simple but effective dome shaped brickwork surrounding the doorway. There is still a long way to go but with the help of the Almighty Allah (SWT) we pray that the project is completed soon.

Friday 25.03.11 – Construction Update

25.03.11

The construction work on site is progressing well, the recent warm spring days have helped and the change to British Summer Time this weekend will mean longer days to get the work completed. The skeletal steel structure is in place. Both the first and second levels have been fitted with concrete floors and staircases. The brickwork to complete the shell of the building has already started. It won’t be long before we move into Phase 2 of the build Isha’ALLAH.
