27th Ramadhan – Over £501k raised in 2 hours

In the name of ALLAH the most beneficient and merciful, peace and greetings to our beloved Prophet Muhummad Sallalahu alihe wassalam.

Alhumdu’lillah with the grace of Almighty ALLAH the community of Leicester pledged over £500,000 on the auspicious night of Laylat Al Qadr for the proposed Extension and School building.  One cannot begin to express the gratitude for the generosity shown by Muslims in Leicester to have raised a significant amount in the space of a couple of hours.

Ma’shallah this gives a solid foundation to progress the project to provide much needed local facilities in and around the Evington area. For all those brothers, sisters and elders that have pledged money please forward your donation to the Masjid at your earliest convenience. Visit the Masjid Umar website www.masjid-umar.org to find out how you can make your payment.

We still have a big challenge ahead of us to reach our target of at least £1m, so if you haven’t pledged already or missed out on the 27th you still have plenty of time to donate to this worthy cause. Remember that your donation will be a form a sadaqah e jariyaa i.e. a continued act of charity even after the donor has passed away. You can also donate for the Isale e Sawaab of a deceased person. Finally, if you are a UK taxpayer you can also increase your donation by a further 25% just by filling in a simple Gift Aid form. The Gift Aid form is available from our website.

Jazakallah Khair from everyone at Masjid Umar and the Muslim community should be proud of their achievements!

Insh’allah we’ll post further updates on the progress of the project on this blog on a regular basis so please bookmark the site or subscribe to receive updates through the RSS feed.
