About The Extension

Alhamda’lillah, with the grace and mercy of Allah Subhanahu Wata’aalaa, and with your kind dua’s and generous contributions we own the four residential houses adjacent to the Masjid on Evington Drive.

Currently no’s 5 and 7 are occupied by a day nursery during the hours of 9am to 3pm and Madrasah between 5pm to 7pm every week day.

No’s 9 and 11 are currently vacant and we have planning agreement in principal to change the use from residential to nursery, reception, primary school and Madrasah. We would need to make some alterations and refurbishment at considerable costs to meet Fire, Health & Safety and Ofsted regulations.

Even after refurbishment the Madrasah facilities will still remain wholly unsatisfactory. Some Madrasah classes will need to be situated in the attic areas and the larger rooms would need to be divided to accommodate two classes. There is also the additional maintenance cost of keeping an older building to a satisfactory standard of repair.

At present we have approximately 200 children on our waiting list for Madrasah and around 150 children for the Nursery and additional space is both an immediate and future need as the Muslim community continues to grow in Evington and surrounding areas.

Taking into consideration various options, the Masjid Committee has decided that for the longer term it would be in the best interest of our community to demolish the four residential properties and have a purpose built Madrasah and school building erected. An artists impression of the building can be see on our website and inside the Masjid.

The new building will provide the following facilities:

  • 32 Madrasah classrooms
  • Alim and Alimaa classes
  • Hifz classes
  • Accommodation for Nursery, Reception and Primary classes
  • Nursery Hall
  • Library and Bookshop
  • Separate women’s courses, seminars and workshops
  • Facilities for youth activities

Insha’Allah with your dua’s and Allah’s blessing we will be able to secure planning permission for our proposed centre.

In the meantime, we seek your generous donations, Insha’Allah this will be a form of Sadka -e- Jariyaah for every child that attains Islamic knowledge and every child that graduates from Hifz you will also reap the rewards until the day of Judgment.

Allah (SWT) has also given you the opportunity of increased rewards during the blessed month of Ramadhan when rewards are 70 times greater so donate now gain maximum benefit.

Jazakamullahu Khairan from everyone at Masjid Umar
